Overview

Let’s a trip a head to Gobi to join renowned "Thousand Camel Festival," organized by a local non-governmental organization handling to protect and preserve the Bactrian camel population, which has been steadily declining over the past twelve years. This extraordinary festival allows travelers a rare opportunity to interact with and learn first-hand about these amazing animals and the camel herders' nomadic lifestyle.

Itinerary

Day 1.

At the arrival meet guide and transfer to the hotel**** to check in. Visit Chinggis Khaan museum and tour to the Chinggis Khaan Statue, the biggest equestrian statue in the world - 40 meters tall stainless-steel statue symbolically pointed east towards his birthplace, on the bank of the Tuul River at Tsonjin Boldog. Overnight at hotel****. (L+D) 

Day 2.

Drive to Dalanzadgad, capital of the south Gobi province. Around 30 thousand people inhabitant out of 90 thousand total in entire province population. The city name may contain meaning of Seventy unbolted springs. Visit to Dinosaur Museum. Overnight in the local hotel. (B+L+D)

Day 3.

The festival is organized by the "Ten Thousand Camels" association in order to protect two-humped Bactrian camels and motivates camel herder communities, to increase their productivity, to increase herder's income by tourism. Overnight in the local hotel. (B+L+D)

  • Opening festival join camel parade for fun
  • Nomination for the most harmonious couple rides most attractive camels.
  • “Camel polo” modernized traditional competition
  • Display to introduce “Altain Khoilog” with the art of children in Bulgan village, craftwork, and mare`s milk, all kind of dairy products.
  • Exhibition of wool products
  • Camel race
  • Competition of camel taming methods and customs and tricks by the herders.
  • Community dance - party in the evening

Day 4.

Drive to Bayanzag also known as the Flaming Cliffs, where the first dinosaur eggs were discovered in 1922 by Roy Chapman Andrews expedition. In this paleontological site, you will visit new local museum and walk on the ground where the dinosaurs once roamed 60 million years ago. Visit nomad family and ride camel. Overnight at local hotel. Day 5.

Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. National Museum of Mongolia for an excellent overview of country’s history and culture and religion and explore national square so called Sukhbaatar square situated right heart of the where you can stand on the city zero point. Continues to shopping Mongolian cashmere and souvenir. Overnight at hotel****. (B+L+D)  

Day 6.

You will be transferred from your hotel to the international departure airport. (B)
